What should I expect at the initial consultation?
At your initial consultation, you will explore your health biography with Dr. Thompson. We will discover a pathway to your wellness, determine first steps, and start to develop the plan for your wellness.
How much is the initial conversation?
The first 20 minute meeting with Dr. Thompson is free! She wants to meet you and get to know your challenges; you decide on the next steps together!
Should I bring anything with me to the consultation?
We ask that you bring any pertinent medical records, supplements, medication and lab test results with you, along with all of your questions, goals and dreams.
How long should I expect the initial conversation to last?
Expect the consultation to last for 20 minutes by phone or HIPAA compliant Zoom. We will get to know each other and decide the best way for MIH to work with you.
Does your office take insurance for Functional Medicine services?
We do not accept insurance or Medicare for our consulting services.
Does your office offer single lab tests or a-la-carte testing?
We do not offer a-la-carte testing since this goes against the paradigm of functional medicine. If we are going to address the root cause of your health issues, we will need to take a more comprehensive approach. We only work with patients on a case management basis in one of our programs.
What is the investment to join the Comprehensive Well Program?
Our Comprehensive Well Program is $3000, necessary functional medicine testing may be additional and is not included in this price. You can also use your HSA funds for this fee.
Is my lab testing covered by health insurance?
Functional lab testing is usually partially covered by insurance, but you will need to pay for it up front. The Laboratories can give you additional information on testing and working with your insurance before testing. You can also use your HSA funds for all of these tests.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept, cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.
Can I use my HSA or FSA account?
Yes. Please check with your HR department to be sure.
What are your office hours?
Our office hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM – 7 PM EST, just not everyday. We work on an appointment-only basis, but create space for all of our patients to meet their needs and will support you on weekends, too. Just let us know what you need and we will work out the hours.
Do I still need a primary care physician?
Yes. We do not provide acute care services and we do not replace the services that your current medical team provides. We provide a stand-alone service.

This program is for anyone looking to optimize their heath. The only time somebody is not qualified is if their health is too far-gone or their condition requires urgent medical attention. Can my appointments be done over the phone or via Zoom?

How does the lab testing work?
The lab testing is typically done at home. In some instances you might have to get blood work done. We will direct you to the lab that coordinates that. Many of the tests have shipping included in the cost of the kits. If not, you will be responsible for the shipping. You will get instructions in more detail on how to do the test kits and the kits come with clear instructions as well. Payment is made directly to the lab to ensure you have the lowest price possible. Maryland Integrative Health does not profit from any testing performed.
